Meyve
Melon runs from May to October across a spread of regions that hands the crop north and east as the season moves. Adana and Mersin open under low tunnel in May with Galia; the Anatolian and south-eastern fields take over from July with Kırkağaç, Ananas and Hasanbey.
The varieties split by market. Galia is the European netted melon — aromatic, slip-stage picked, short shelf life. Kırkağaç and Hasanbey are winter-type melons with hard rinds, low aroma and long storage; they are what moves to Russia and the CIS in volume and they will hold six weeks where a Galia holds two.
Melon is chilling-sensitive. Below +5 °C it pits and develops off-flavour, and the damage is not visible until the fruit is cut at destination.

The aromatic netted melon of the European trade. Round, fully netted, turning from green to golden-yellow at maturity with pale green sweet flesh at 12–15° brix. Picked at half-slip for export. Short shelf life and a strong aroma that carries in a mixed load.
A Turkish winter melon with a hard yellow rind marked with green-brown patches, and firm white-cream flesh at 11–14° brix. Low aroma, very long storage — six to eight weeks — and it is the variety that carries the Russian and CIS programme.
A netted, oval melon with pale orange-cream flesh and a distinctly aromatic, slightly pineapple character that gives it its name. Brix 13–16° — the sweetest of the group. Medium shelf life, between Galia and the winter types.
The hardest-rinded winter melon we pack, with dark green-yellow skin and crisp white flesh at 10–13° brix. Low aroma and minimal sugar development compared to Ananas, but it stores eight weeks and travels overland to the CIS without refrigeration in autumn.
